Fall Swim Lessons Advanced Levels (4/5/6)

Requirements: Age 9 to adult willing to learn swimming strokes for self-improvements. Currently completed the previous level within Iola-Scandinavia Swim Program or the ability to swim a minimum of 25 yards freestyle and swim on your back in 10 feet of water. Some knowledge of breaststroke-10 yds distance. There will be a skills assessment on the first day of class. Class Targets: ~ Improving each stroke using drills to achieve proficiency ~ Cardio-endurance to swim longer distances ~ Become a more confident swimmer ~ For those interested in learning flip turns, underwater pulls, and treading endurance will be provided.

Summer 2024: Advanced Swimming

• Youth Mini-Triathlon – swim distance • Becoming a confident swimmer • Cross train w/ swimming • Additional stroke techniques for swim team self-improvement This course is held for 35 minutes and will be taught by our Master Swim Instructor, Sandra Nymoen. This class will be held for six days beginning on June 10th until June 20th, kids will meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The class is limited to only 6 participants.

Spring 2024 ISCFAC Adult Swim Clinic

Wednesday 6-7 PM & Saturday 8:30-9:30 AM
Course Targets: Strokes freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke (butterfly upon request) will be cri-tiqued for good technique. Drills are used to achieve all strokes proficiency, cardio-endurance, and increase distances swimming nonstop (personal goal 1/4 mile to 1/2 mile (20 -32 lengths), or greater. Upon request, Sandra will teach flip turns, underwater pulls, sculling movement, treading water endurance, and lake swimming situational awareness will also be discussed. Student Requirements: Adult - 13 yrs. - Must be able to swim 40 yds freestyle and comfortable swimming 25 yds on back. This course is not for younger age-developing swimmers. ISCFAC: Level 4/5 Upper Level

This course is 40 minutes long and taught by our Master Swim Instructor, Sandra Nymoen. Students will be practicing similar skills yet level 5 requires further distance. Requirements: currently completed previous level within Iola-Scandinavia Swim Program or the ability to swim a minimum of 25 yards freestyle w/ rhythmic breathing, 25 yds backstroke, and 25 yds elementary backstroke with/without fins. Some knowledge of breaststroke-10 yds distance. There will be a skills assessment on the first day of class. Class Includes: Strokes freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and sidestroke will be critiqued for good technique within their skill level. Drills are used to achieve all strokes proficiency, cardio-endurance, and increase non-stop swimming distances (goal 100-500 yds). Sandra will show and teach different dives, jumps, flip turns, underwater pulls, and work on treading water. Lake swimming situational awareness will also be discussed.
