Safety Series (Jan PT 1): Human Trafficking

Tuesday January 14 2025
About: Dritan Lazami is a Detective with Dane County Sheriff’s Office assigned to investigate Human Trafficking. Detective Lazami will discuss the scope of the human trafficking problem, and share more about defining human trafficking, who are the victims, and who are the traffickers. Community members of all ages are invited to learn more about human trafficking globally and close to home. Identify your greatest strengths as you learn to not only defend, but avoid dangerous situations all together. Course taught by self defense instructor, Paul Reynolds, helping students discover what they're capable of for over 3 decades. Must be 10+, no age maximum. The Little Heart Project- Learning Program

The Little Heart Project's mission statement is, "Preventing suicide one heart at a time through serendipitous words of encouragement". Join us for a 3 week crash course on crocheting, and making hearts for the Little Heart Project. About: Build your student’s foundational math skills by building your own with this 3 week course. Learn how to use effective language, connect key concepts and tools, and apply best practices to support your child's math learning. The classes are aligned with current math standards and will equip you to bridge the gap between the classroom and kitchen table. Safety Series: Car Seat Safety

About: With car crashes being one of the leading causes of death and injury in children, it is vital that they are riding as safe as possible in a vehicle - every time! This presentation will help you determine which car seat is appropriate for your child, how to install your car seat, and how to harness your child into the car seat correctly. Young families are invited to learn about car seat safety with UW Health's Safe Kids Madison Area Coalition. Book Study Group

Monday June 3 2024
Do you struggle with perfectionism? Does it feel as though there are unmanageable expectations coming at you, from every direction in your life? We are human, and so we feel the weight of perfectionism and expectations, from others, and ourselves. “I Thought It Was Just Me” helps us walk through strategies to change our mindset, ways to be kinder to ourselves, and ways to set boundaries with others. Brene Brown's book, will leave you with a sense of peace, guidance, and confidence. Read the book on your own time, and join us on Monday evenings, from 6:15-7:15, for reflection and discussion. Plan to read 1-2 chapters per week, highlighting as you go. A Grove facilitator will host and lead the gathering each week.

Summer Art Program

If you are older than 5th grade- reach out for availability! Pre k- 5th Graders- Do you love art?! This class is for you! Painting, Water Color, Abstract Art, Art Decor, Drawing, Minimalist Art, Nature Art, Portraiture, and Paper-machete are all incorporated into this 6 week Summer Art Program. Join us at The Grove on Tuesday nights to develop your art skills. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, this class is ready for you! If your student is under 5years old, we ask you accompany them for the class.

Summer P.E. Program

Thursday June 6 2024
Active, engaging Summer Kids program! Gym games, running games, basic strength training, coordination, and flexibility are all covered in this program! We have parachutes, scooters, sports gear and more in our Grove Gym. This class is led by experienced High School students who have a passion for kiddos! The program will utilize the gymnasium and outdoor field. This is a 6 week program, with no class on July 4th or July 11th.

Safe Sitter Babysitting Training

Safe Sitter® is designed to prepare students in (or entering) grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. The instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students learn safety, child care, first aid & rescue, and life & business skills.

High School Pickle Ball

We are offering free HS pickleball (equipment included) on Sunday nights in April, from 5:30-6:30. This is a 3 week pilot program, April 14th-April 28th. Beginner-advance, we are ready for you! A Grove volunteer is ready to teach if you haven't played yet. If your experienced already, just show up to play! Please register if you are coming for any of the sessions.

Moving in Faith Dance Program

Sunday March 3 2024
"Come dance with Cindy and learn basic dance skills, while building strength, flexibility, and teamwork! This 8-week course accommodates a range of dance experiences, from beginner to advanced. The program will conclude with a recording of the group dance performance. This video will be shared for "Light the Fire" New Heights Lutheran Church celebration, with an option to perform live instead of only virtually! Taught by professional dancer, Cindy Stefanek who has been dancing for 17 years and teaching dance for 7 years. She is in her final semester of her Bachelor of Science in Dance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and this program will serve as her Dance Senior Capstone. Power Hour: Aerobic Dance Fitness

Saturday April 6 2024
Join us on Saturday mornings for a Women's group fitness class! This class focuses on aerobic exercise, paired with fun music! The class instructor, Tracy Schroeder, is ready to modify movements to match your fitness level! Power Hour is hosted at The Grove, for those 18 and up. (Students 14-17 may choose to accompany an adult.) Register for the 8 week class here, or choose the Drop In option for $10 a class. Childcare is available! Middle School Retreat to Expeditions Unlimited

Friday November 17 2023
November 17th through the 19th is our MS retreat to Expeditions Unlimited in Baraboo, WI. This is an incredible weekend to get away with friends, participate in awesome activities, and grow in your Faith. The total cost of the retreat is $160 (Check your student account fund levels with Kaia). Drop off is Friday night, and pick up is Sunday afternoon. Check with friends for rideshare options :)
